American Airlines presents an extremely rare opportunity to visit China or Japan this winter at bargain airfare rates.

The carrier's base round-trip rate to Beijing or Shanghai, China or to Tokyo, Japan is just $289. Factor in taxes, fees and surcharges for total ticket rates of $673.80 to China (compare to Delta's rate of $975.80) and $692.00 to Japan (compare to Delta's rate of $1,113.00).

This rate is valid on departures through March 31. Give at least a seven day advance notice of travel and stay at least three nights and no longer than one month. Trips are permitted seven days a week, based on sale seat availability.

American tags a ticket-by date of Feb. 18 to this sale, but sale seats are already quite limited. Act fast on this great offer.

American serves Asia via its hub airports in Chicago and Dallas-Fort Worth; www.AA.com.

Sale airfares are always subject to change. Every seat on every flight is not offered at the lowest rate. Since only a limited supply of seats is available, act quickly to make your purchase. I recommend starting the search for available seats at Kayak.com vs. calling an airline directly. You can also search for the sale at travel Web sites such as Expedia or Travelocity, etc. Airlines can discontinue or pull a sale price without notice when the offer is deemed "sold out," or when that rate does not have a "ticket-by" date.
