Several winter weather alerts have been issued across the state for this weekend, just days after thawing out from last weekend’s ice storm.

An ice storm warning has been issued for northeast Georgia for the first time in more than a decade as the state braces for treacherous winter weather arriving this weekend.

Atlanta’s ice storm will test local robotaxis. Waymo says it’s monitoring conditions, while May Mobility says it may suspend service.

The Georgia Department of Transportation is ready to face off with Mother Nature to help keep drivers safe on the roads once the ice storm passes.

A group made up of officials with the city of Atlanta, the Beltline and MARTA made the decision in a closed-door meeting without ever informing the public.

"We don’t want to just set a record and then somebody comes in next week. We want to make it unbreakable," says MARTA rider Matthew Plese.
