Atlanta United has surpassed 26,000 pledges for season-ticket sales, a spokeswoman for the soccer club said on Friday. Those pledges are from the slightly more than 9,000 members of its Founder’s Club.

Atlanta United, which will begin play in MLS in 2017 in the new stadium being constructed downtown, continues to increase its record for season-ticket pledges for a start-up team.

Seattle set the record for an expansion team with approximately 22,000 season-tickets sold in 2009.

The spokeswoman said Atlanta United has received several hundred deposits in October. Earlier this month, the club announced that it is going to start its youth academy in 2016.
