Quarterback Nick Montana, son of Hall of Famer Joe Montana, has chosen Washington over a dozen schools including his father's alma mater Notre Dame, Georgia, Alabama, LSU and Ohio State.

The 6-1, 185-pound rising senior, rated the nation's No. 13 quarterback by Scout.com, said Huskies coach Steve Sarkisian was the biggest factor.

"He's an awesome coach," Nick Montana told the Seattle Times. "You just have to look at all the guys he's put into the pros."

During a March visit to Athens, Montana said he liked UGA so much that he wanted to visit again in the summer. But his visit to Washington last weekend ended his recruiting.

"It cleared everything up," he told the newspaper.

Montana's family has known Sarkisian since his days at USC, where he developed quarterbacks Carson Palmer, Matt Leinart and Mark Sanchez.

Montana did not seem concerned that the Huskies went 0-12 last year.

"[Sarkisian] is going to get the place turned around," he said.

Montana's coach at Oaks Christian High in Westlake Village, Calif., compared Montana to his father in that Nick Montana can throw on the run.

"He's got a strong arm and great touch and he's very intelligent," Bill Redell told the newspaper. "He's a very good leader and he's popular with the other players."
