Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez was more upbeat after the 17-13 loss to the Saints on Thursday.

He’s been dejected after some of the recent losses.

“It’s frustrating,” Gonzalez said. “We came out and the enthusiasm was there, the fight was there. I loved the way the guys were playing, especially the offense, just getting after it. It was a total change in attitude in the last three weeks where we’ve kind of been getting blown out.

The Saints, who improved to 9-2, had the Falcons’ full attention. The Saints defeated the Falcons 23-17 in the season-opener on Sept. 8.

The Falcons had a chance to pull out the victory, but their fourth-quarter drive stalled and Matt Bryant missed a 52-yard field goal.

“Going against a good football team like this, we’ve just got to make those plays,” Gonzalez said. “We had them right where we wanted them. It seemed like it was going to come down to a turnover and that’s what happened.

“We were down in their territory and we have to get some points. That’s how it goes. That’s football. They made a play. Give them credit.”
