Georgia Tech announced Tuesday that sophomore offensive lineman Chase Roberts was medically disqualified, ending his playing career.

Roberts, who played in eight games and started three at right tackle last season, sustained a concussion against Clemson on Nov. 14 and missed the rest of the season.

“I want to express my thanks to coach Johnson, the coaches, athletic trainers and medical staff for their support through this difficult transition,” Roberts, a native of Duluth, said in a statement.

“Playing under the lights at Bobby Dodd (Stadium) was something I’ve wanted to do since I was a little kid, and it will always be a part of me.”
