Tate Ratledge confirmed his commitment to sign with Georgia – first on social media and then in comments to DawgNation after watching a team practice on Saturday.

Ratledge, the nation’s No. 3 rated offensive tackle, made the announcement on Twitter. In a post with a picture of Ratledge shaking hands with Georgia great Herschel Walker, he wrote: “My recruitment is officially shut down! I will be signing Wednesday #GoDawgs” He describes himself in his Twitter bio as a 5-star UGA commit.

There had been some concern that Ratledge might not commitment to Georgia after former offensive line coach Sam Pittman left to coach Arkansas. Pittman was replaced by Matt Luke.

The 6-foot-6, 325-pound Darlington School (Rome, Ga.) standout later spoke after an unofficial visit to Athens on Saturday.

“The time I have spent with coach Luke I have developed a faster relationship than any coach I have been around,” Ratledge told DawgNation. “I watched them practice today and I liked his style of coaching and his enthusiasm.”

The early signing period begins on Wednesday.

Georgia coach Kirby Smart and Luke visited Ratledge earlier this week, arriving by helicopter.

No. 5 Georgia is preparing to play No. 6 Baylor in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1.
