Jakob Brashear

Position: LB

Committed: March 19

Height, weight: 6-foot, 205 pounds

Hometown: Dacula

What to know: Brashear chose Georgia Tech with the help of his parents because of the strength of the football program and the proximity to where his parents live.

Dacula High coach Tommy Jones on what he noticed about Brashear in high school: "Jakob is a blue-collar, throwback-type kid. Jakob is the kind of player that outside of production, you don't notice a lot because he just shows up and works extremely hard every day."

Jones on what Brashear brings to Tech's program: "I think Jakob is an excellent football player. I know they recruited him to be a defensive player. He played linebacker for us, and he excelled for three years in that role against our state's best players. … He's the kind of player that can play all three levels on defense."

Jones on Brashear's decision process: "Jakob made his decision very early. Georgia Tech was the first Power Five school to offer him a scholarship, and Jakob committed very early. … He never wavered and never doubted himself. I'm sure he would have had other opportunities to play somewhere else big, but once he locked in on Georgia Tech, he was pretty much all Georgia Tech."

Jones on why Brashear didn't renege on his early commitment: "Jakob's just a high integrity-type of kid. He believes that his word means something. When he decided on Georgia Tech, I don't think he wavered at all. … He felt important and valued and he never looked back."
