Lion King signs with Eastern Michigan
Lion King signed to play football for Eastern Michigan today.
Yes, that’s his real name.
Well, actually, it was Lion King Conaway but, according to mlive.com, he legally changed his name to just Lion King. Of course "The Lion King" is a popular animated Disney film released in 1994, a couple years before King (the person) was born.
King is a defensive lineman from Southfield High School near Detroit. King talked about his unique name to high school's newspaper, via SB Nation:
"I like my name," says Lion King, who played on the freshman basketball team this year. On or off the court, his name attracts as much attention as a wildebeest in a pack of hyenas. When he meets new people, "They always say, 'What? Are you serious? Is that your real name?' And then I say, 'Yes.'"
