Georgia Tech landed the eighth member of its 2018 recruiting class, securing the commitment of cornerback Zamari Walton from Melbourne (Fla.) Central Catholic. He announced his decision Tuesday on Twitter.

Walton, rated a three-star prospect by 247 Sports, had reported six other scholarship offers, including Vanderbilt, Cincinnati and Marshall. He announced his offer from Tech in April. He is listed at 6-foot-0 and 160 pounds. He is the second defensive back and first cornerback in the class, following Charlie Thomas from Thomasville High, a safety.

Tech has picked up all but one of its commits since the start of June. Only Newnan High wide receiver P.J. Harris had been committed before that, his being a “silent commitment” that became public in June.
