The Hawks waived Cartier Martin Tuesday.

Martin was signed near the end of training camp to a non-guaranteed contract of $884,293. All non-guaranteed contracts become guaranteed for the remainder of the season on Friday. Teams had to waive players by 5 p.m. Tuesday for them to clear waivers by the Friday deadline.

Mike Scott and Shelvin Mack remain under non-guaranteed contracts.

Martin appeared in 25 games for the Hawks, including two starts, and averaged 6.6 points, 2.0 rebounds, 0.7 assists and 17.5 minutes.

The Hawks can sign Martin to a 10-day contract once he clears waivers on Friday. He can be signed to two 10-day contracts before he must be released or signed for the rest of the season.

With the move the Hawks have 14 players under contract and have some roster flexibility to make an addition before the Feb. 20 trade deadline.

The Hawks are currently exploring their options to replace center Al Horford, who was lost for the season with a torn right pectoral muscle.

Donald Trump's administration deployed the military to Washington, D.C., in the name of fighting crime, and in an Aug. 11 news conference he mentioned the possibility of military being sent to other large American cities, all of which are led by Black, Democratic mayors.
