An early-season demotion from Triple-A to Double-A appears to have done wonders for reliever Jason Hursh, who’s getting another shot at the major leagues.

The right-hander was recalled from Double-A Mississippi on Tuesday after the Braves put veteran starter Bartolo Colon on the 10-day disabled list.

Hursh, 25, had a 1.23 ERA in 10 appearances at Mississippi after posting a 4.67 ERA in 10 appearances at Triple-A Gwinnett through May 9. He allowed 10 hits and no home runs in 14 2/3 innings at Mississippi after giving up 26 hits and two homers in 17 1/3 innings at Gwinnett.

He was a Braves first-round draft pick out of Oklahoma State in 2013, Hursh made his major league debut last season. In two August relief appearances for the Braves, he gave up four hits, five runs and three walks in 1 1/3 innings.
