Gwinnett (Triple-A)

Looking back: The G-Braves are in second place in the International League South, two games behind the Durham Bulls entering the weekend, but have won 11 of 16.

Looking ahead: The G-Braves opened an eight-game homestand Thursday with a loss to Lehigh Valley, and it concludes with a 10:35 a.m. game next Thursday against Buffalo.

Who's hot: First base suits Joey Terdoslavich, who went 2-for-5 on Tuesday and has an 11-game hitting streak. … Ryan Buchter has 11 strikeouts in his past nine innings but did give up a long home run Thursday.

Who's not: 3B Edward Salcedo has gone 5-for-27 to slip to .211.

Jackson, Miss. (Double-A)

Looking back: The M-Braves are 4 1/2 games behind Mobile and in fourth place entering the weekend.

Looking ahead: The M-Braves opened a four-game series at home against Jacksonville with a victory on Thursday and will play a five-game series Monday-Friday at Mobile. They will play 19 home games in May.

Who's hot: The M-Braves hit four home runs (two by Kyle Kubitza) in a victory against Pensacola, the first time the club has done that in a game since July 15, 2007.

Who's not: Matt Lipka, among the league leaders in stolen bases, nevertheless continues to struggle at the plate, batting .179 entering the weekend with only four extra-base hits.

Lynchburg, Va. (Single-A)

Looking back: The Hillcats are 5 1/2 games back, and in last place, in the Carolina League Northern Division. The Hillcats have lost nine in a row and are 9-15 entering the weekend.

Looking ahead: The Hillcats have their next six home games against Salem and Carolina, but both opponents have winning road records.

Who’s hot: RHP Brandon Cunniff gave up his first run of the season Sunday, but it was unearned, so his ERA remains at 0.00 over 13 2/3 innings.

Who’s not: The nine-game losing streak is the worst for the Hillcats since they lost eight in a row in 2012 from May 30-June 5. … The Hillcats have surrendered a league-high 17 home runs this season.

Rome (Single-A)

Looking back: Rome is 10 games back in the South Atlantic League Southern Division entering the weekend with a league-worst record. The Braves have lost eight of their past nine, with the only victory Sunday. Their bullpen coughed up two runs in the eighth and four in the ninth to lose in Asheville on Thursday.

Looking ahead: Rome is on the road until Wednesday, then Charleston and Asheville come in for visits.

Who’s hot: Victor Reyes is hitting a team-best .326, good for 11th in the league, after going 7-for-14 in his past four games.

Who’s not: Chuck Buchanan gave up four earned runs in 3 1/3 innings in his latest start. The big left-hander does have 20 strikeouts in 22 2/3 innings.
