Jose Constanza remained hot with the bat, but his Gwinnett Braves couldn't capitalize, losing to the Indianapolis Indians 4-3 on Sunday at Victory Field in Indianapolis.

Constanza, the G-Braves' center fielder, went 4-for-5, improving his average to .356 -- two points off the International League batting lead. He's had four hits in three of his last six games, and five multi-hit games in his past eight.

However, the G-Braves (33-30) fell behind for good and lost for the second consecutive game when starting pitcher Erik Cordier (1-2) gave up a single and wild pitch and was tagged for a run-scoring single by the Indians' John Bowke, breaking a 2-2 tie in the fifth inning.

Cordier pitched 5 1/3 innings, giving up all four runs on nine hits. Rowdy Hardy, called up again from Double-A Mississippi, pitched two innings of scoreless relief.

G-Braves shortstop Jose Lugo had one of his better offensive outings, going 3-for-5 with an RBI.

The G-Braves and Indianapolis complete their three-game series on Monday night, with Todd Redmond (4-6) opposing the Indians' Brad Lincoln (5-5) on the mound.
