Atlanta United striker Giorgos Giakoumakis may not need an MRI on his right knee, the team said Tuesday.

Giakoumakis, who leads the team with five goals, knocked knees with a Chicago defender in the first half of Sunday’s 3-0 victory at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Giakoumakis was examined by trainers after the collision and returned to the game. He scored just before the end of the first half. Giakoumakis returned for the second half and played for 20 minutes before he sat down on the turf to be re-examined. He was subbed off.

After the match, manager Gonzalo Pineda said that Giakoumakis would have an MRI. Instead, his status is day to day. He didn’t participate in training Tuesday.

Additionally, the team announced that fullback Aiden McFadden is going to be sent on loan to a team to be announced. McFadden went on loan to Memphis in USL last season.
