The Hawks announced that veteran center Larry Nance Jr. sustained a fracture on the fourth metacarpal bone in his right hand. Nance will have surgery on Thursday.

The team did not announce a timeline for his return. The Hawks said they will be provided following surgery.

Nance has had a significant role in the Hawks’ lineup in the absence of center Onyeka Okongwu. He provided the Hawks vital spacing that helped the team to shoot 41.2% from 3-point range in the past five games.

Though Nance’s injury comes as a blow to the Hawks’ depth at center, Okongwu returned to the rotation on Sunday after missing five games due to left knee inflammation. Hawks veteran center Center Clint Capela remains healthy. The Hawks also have two-way big man Dominick Barlow on their roster.
