The dry weather was fun while it lasted, but summertime showers are making a comeback on Wednesday, according to the latest forecast.
“We had that one-day break yesterday, but for today and into the weekend, we are going to have an upper-level disturbance,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said.
North Georgia is waking up to temperatures in the high 60s and low 70s, and parts of the mountain counties are seeing rain. Metro Atlanta is dry for now, but things won’t stay that way, according to the news station.
“Get ready for some rain,” Monahan said. “Leave the house with the umbrella today.”
Only about eight of Wednesday’s 13 daylight hours will be sunny, Channel 2 reported.
Showers will move into the metro area around noon, when the chance of rain increases to 30%, Monahan said. Some areas will get heavier downpours when the chance of rain climbs to 40% at 2 p.m., and 60% at 4 p.m.
The wet weather will keep temperatures down a little, Monahan said. The predicted high for Wednesday is 89 degrees.
If you’re headed out to work and school, drivers who have to navigate Spaghetti Junction should expect delays, according to WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
Authorities are on the scene of a crash involving a tractor-trailer and a motorcycle, the Traffic Center reported. The wreck occurred at the end of the ramp from the Outer Loop to I-85 North. Part of the ramp is closed.
And all lanes of Atlanta Highway are shut down between Ga. 141 and Majors Road due to a crash in Forsyth County.
“Please avoid for the next four hours,” the Traffic Center said. “Plan a detour.”
