Two people with gunshot wounds fled the scene of a shooting in northwest Atlanta on Tuesday afternoon, which led police to respond to three locations.
Both people were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition, according to Atlanta police spokesman Officer John Chafee. Neither has been identified at this time.
The scene of the shooting was a Family Dollar in the 2600 block of Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway, police said. The first call to police, indicating shots had been fired, came around 4:40 p.m. A second call to police was placed minutes later, indicating there was an injured person at a nearby fire station on Hollywood Road. A third call came in a few minutes later, saying there was a injured person near an apartment complex in the 100 block of Dogwood Drive SW, a couple of miles away.
Homicide investigators responded to the primary scene at the Family Dollar and discovered the scenes were connected. Preliminary findings suggest the two people got into an argument inside the store, which escalated into shots being fired, according to Chafee.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, Chafee said.
