A former Troup County deputy was shot and killed Wednesday night in Pine Mountain, authorities said Thursday.

Wesley Gaddy, a former narcotics detective who resigned in July, died on the scene, Troup County Deputy Stewart Smith said.

“It was not domestic,” he said of the fatal shooting, which occurred in the 300 block of Bill Taylor Rd. “Troup County Sheriff’s Office and the GBI are investigating the murder.”

No other details were released.

Pine Mountain is south of LaGrange, and 79 miles southwest of Atlanta.
