Atlanta firefighter injured. A firefighter was hurt after falling through a second story floor battling a vacant house fire Friday in northwest Atlanta. Officials said the injuries were minor, although the firefighter dropped about 8 feet. The fire started just before 4 a.m. at the corner of Mayson Turner Road and Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard. Braves finalize Colon deal. The Braves' average age officially ticked up a few notches Thursday when the team announced the signing of 43-year-old pitcher Bartolo Colon, a former Cy Young Award winner who agreed to the one-year, $12.5 million deal last week. [Read here]

Smoke-free conditions return. South and southeast winds will mean smoke-free conditions return Friday for metro Atlanta. Winds blowing smoke from wildfires in the North Georgia mountains began to shift Thursday from north to south. Breezes will stay along south and southeast courses Friday. A $36 million judgment in the Bobbi Kristina wrongful death lawsuit. Two months after Nick Gordon was found "legally responsible" in connection to the death of Bobbi Kristina Brown last year, Fulton County Superior Court Judge T. Jackson Bedford has entered a judgment following the civil suit filed by Bobbi Kristina's estate against the man she often called her "husband." The court has entered a judgment of more than $36 million in damages; the lawsuit sought $50 million. [Read here] 

Atlanta mayoral candidates slam Reed for 'giveaways' on stadium deals. Two contenders to replace Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed on Thursday slammed his decision to use public funds to keep the Atlanta Hawks in a remodeled Philips Arena. State Sen. Vincent Fort, who entered the crowded race last week, called the plan to spend $142.5 million in taxpayer funds to renovate the arena a "sweetheart development deal." And former Atlanta City Council President Cathy Woolard told the AJC it was "a giveaway to billionaires." [Read here]
