Q: I often drive between Atlanta and Chicago and go through Louisville, where for many years, road construction on I-65 has made for a continuous traffic nightmare. What’s the price tag of the project at I-285 and Ga. 400 and how long might it possibly take?

—Dan Cowles, Cumming

A: The $800 million project will add new ramps and collector-distributor lanes to help the traffic flow in that area.

The state broke ground on Nov. 3.

The project, which is scheduled to take four years, includes improvements to I-285 between Roswell Road and Ashford Dunwoody Road and to Ga. 400 between the Glenridge Connector and Spalding Drive, the AJC reported.

A diverging diamond interchange also will be built on Abernathy Road at Ga. 400.

“This project is the start of a major upgrade of the transportation network around metro Atlanta,” State Transportation Board member Mark Burkhalter said in a release.

Q: Why did ESPN replace Skip Bayless with Max Kellerman on “First Take?” What happened?

—Harry Austin, Atlanta

Q: Bayless left ESPN for a new show on Fox Sports 1 when his contract expired.

Fox Sports signed Bayless to a four-year deal worth $5.5 million a year, Sports Illustrated reported, to co-host “Skip and Shannon: Undisputed” with former NFL player Shannon Sharpe.

The show debuted in September.

Bayless, who joined ESPN in 2004, had been the co-host of “First Take,” along with Stephen A. Smith.

Kellerman, who had been co-hosting ESPN2’s “SportsNation,” replaced Bayless on “First Take” in July.
