SUNDAY’S WEATHER-TRAFFIC: Sunshine, mostly dry conditions to close weekend

Sunday will be hot and relatively dry, with plenty of sunshine and temperatures in the mid-90s in the forecast.

A high pressure system is bringing warm air into the metro area, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Eboni Deon.

“Not only is it going to keep us a bit drier for the end of the weekend, but the hot temperatures are going to stick around,” Deon said.

For now, temperatures in metro Atlanta are in the low and mid-70s. By noon, they’ll be close to the day’s predicted high of 93 degrees.

It will feel even hotter when you factor in humidity, which is at 91%, according to Deon.

“It is going to feel more like the upper 90s to 100 degrees,” she said.

For the most part, you won’t have to worry about rain. The day will be mainly dry, with a 20% chance of precipitation.

Parts of North Georgia might run into a stray shower in the afternoon, Deon said.

“A lot of you are missing out on the rain,” Deon said. “But where we do get it, it’ll bring some cooling relief and knock those temperatures down a few degrees.”

That’ll change during the workweek, Deon said. Rain chances will increase to 40% on Monday and Tuesday and 60% by Wednesday.

The wet weather will bring temperatures down a little bit, but it will be a negligible amount. Highs in the low 90s are in the forecast every day a week.

“We are going to certainly see that typical summertime pattern continuing on into the workweek, with temperatures staying slightly above average” Deon said.
