As the snow and ice melted around the metro area Thursday, many colleges and universities announced plans to reopen campuses Friday.

Georgia Tech, as well as, Georgia State, Emory and Clayton State universities planned to open Friday. The University of Georgia, Southern Polytechnic State University along with all campuses of the University of North Georgia were to reopen at 10 a.m. Friday.

Morehouse College will reopen at noon Friday for staff, but no classes will be held. The inauguration of Morehouse President John S. Wilson Jr. will be held at 1 p.m. in the Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel, with a reception to follow in Forbes Arena. All other Founder’s Week events will proceed as scheduled.

Staffers at Georgia Perimeter College are to report at 10 am. Friday. Staffers at Spelman College are to report at noon Friday, but no classes will be held at either college.

Georgia Gwinnett College will remain closed Friday.

Most of the metro area school systems are also closed Friday, with some systems closed through Monday for Presidents Day.
