The golf clubhouse in a Paulding County neighborhood is expected to be a total loss after a fire Tuesday night.
No one was injured in the blaze at The Frog course at The Georgian, near Villa Rica, Paulding County fire Chief Michael Earwood told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The cause of the fire was not immediately known, he said.
“It’s unfortunate, but we’ll try to find the cause,” Earwood said.
The Georgian, developed by Cousins Neighborhoods, is a 1,400-home community adjacent to an 18-hole golf course, The Frog. The course is open to the public.
Resident Eric Andrist told the AJC his wife spotted the fire while returning home shortly after 8 p.m. Andrist, who plays the course, said the clubhouse has a kitchen and apparel store and is often used for events.
But without a clubhouse, a pastime for many in the community may be on hold for a while, Andrist said.
“I’m sure they will try their best to keep things rolling, but I don’t know how they do that,” Andrist said.
Firefighters were expected to remain at the scene overnight to investigate and battle hot spots, Earwood said.
