A Michigan man who admitted to tossing water balloons into a crowd of supporters for President Donald Trump showed no remorse as he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge Thursday, WZZM reported.
Robert Dale Truax Jr., 20, of Grand Rapids, said he might even do it again, the television station reported.
“Actions are going to be louder than words these days,’’ Truax said after his appearance in Grand Rapids District Court. “Try to get three water balloons out this time. I only got out two.’’
Truax threw the two water balloons into a crowd outside Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids on March 28 as Trump spoke inside the venue. There were no injuries reported, WZZM reported.
“Even though in this gentleman’s mind it might seem as if it was harmless, it certainly can get someone injured,’’ Grand Rapids Police Sgt. Cathy Williams said. “And we’re not going to allow that to happen.’’
Truax recorded the entire incident and post the profanity-laced video to his YouTube page.
Truax will returned to be sentenced next month, WZZM reported. He could be sentenced to up to 90 days in jail and a $500 fine, The Washington Post reported.
“I was trying to stand up for the people who are just against the president,’’ Truax said outside the courtroom. “In a way, his supporters are just like him. I did what I had to do.’’
