The man who is accused of threatening to kill a Cobb County judge’s children and eat them was back in court Wednesday. This time, the attorney for James Satterfield asked that the entire DA’s office be kicked off his case.
Satterfield, 58, was arrested in December after allegedly mailing a letter to the home of Cobb County Superior Court Judge Reuben Green. In the letter, Satterfield allegedly wrote that he would kill the judge’s children and “cook them first to make them more palatable,” his arrest warrant states.
Bond was denied for Satterfield in February and he was ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
In court Wednesday, Satterfield’s attorney said that because Green is a former Cobb prosecutor, the DA’s office should not be allowed to be involved with the case, Channel 2 Action News reported. A visiting judge from Douglas County has presided over Satterfield’s court appearances.
Assistant DA Don Geary told the judge the request was overkill because both he and the county’s DA began work long after Green had left the office.
