Voters across metro Atlanta hit the polls Tuesday to decide runoff races for a number of key municipal positions. And it was not a good day to be an incumbent mayor.

All three sitting mayors that were on the ballot — Jack Longino in College Park, Jeff DeTar in Morrow and Donna Pittman in Doraville — appeared to have lost to their challengers.

In Smyrna, Derek Norton appeared to win a very narrow race to succeed retiring longtime mayor Max Bacon.

Tuesday's elections, which also included competition for 11 city council spots, were held to decide races that weren't resolved on Nov. 5, usually because a large number of candidates meant nobody won a majority of the votes cast.

All results are unofficial until certified at a later date, but one runoff race for a Morrow City Council seat appeared to end in a tie. The next step was not immediately clear.
