A former director of the Albany Humane Society in South Georgia is out on bond in connection with an aggravated animal cruelty charge and her former employee is on the run, police said Thursday.
Andrea Sartiano, 54, is accused of ordering 27-year-old Michael Mackey to “kill a cat in a manner which was against the organization’s policy” in May, Albany police spokeswoman Monique Broughton Knight told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Thursday.
The society fired both Sartiano and Mackey in August and a report was filed with police, Knight said.
Sartiano was charged Wednesday after police detectives talked to her and her attorney. She was booked into Dougherty County jail and released on a $10,000 bond, according to jail records.
