A 28-year-old man is accused of throwing an object at another car and breaking its windshield in an apparent road-rage incident on I-85, officials said.

While driving north near Hogansville on Dec. 16, a Ford F-150 started tailgating Jason Howard’s GMC Sierra 2500, he told police according to a Coweta County sheriff’s report.

The driver, who was later identified by police as Sagar Dhiren Shah, tailgated Howard all the way into Coweta County, which was about 7 miles on the interstate, the report states. Howard told authorities he brake-checked the Ford in order to send a message to get off his bumper.

That’s when Shah allegedly passed on Howard’s passenger side, where his wife was seated, and cursed out of his rolled-down window.

Andrea Howard kept her window up because she was afraid, her husband told deputies.

Shah then allegedly threw a blunt object, possibly a full can of something, and broke the windshield of the Ford before driving away at a high rate of speed, officials said.

But Howard caught up with the Ford to take a photo of the license plate before pulling over and calling 911, the report states.

By that point, Howard was in Newnan.

A Georgia State Patrol trooper responded and confirmed the Ford F-150 was registered to Shah, who had a residence listed in Columbus. Authorities later learned Shah also has a residence in Jonesboro.

When the Coweta deputy later called Shah, he admitted he owned a black Ford F-150 and had been driving on I-85 on Dec. 16, the report states. But then Shah started to change his story and act nervously on the phone with the deputy.

Warrants were obtained by the sheriff’s office and Shah was arrested Friday.
