Parkview High School in Gwinnett County is investigating a second incident involving a sports team in as many months.

Mindy Culpepper, parent of a girls volleyball player, alleges coach Michelle Bowden grabbed players by the neck, cursed some of them and called an African-American player “gorilla woman.” Culpepper said her daughter and another parent told her those things happened in practice.

“That’s just not acceptable,” Culpepper said of the coach’s actions.

Gwinnett school district spokeswoman Sloan Roach confirmed an investigation is underway.

Gwinnett school officials last month suspended six Parkview athletes accused of physically and sexually assaulting four younger teammates at a hotel during a baseball tournament in North Charleston, S.C. No criminal charges have been filed. The family of one of the students who says he was harmed has filed a lawsuit against the hotel where the players stayed.
