Volunteers from business and community organizations will work on learning projects in Atlanta public schools Thursday to encourage students to stay in school and go on to become successful members of the workforce.

The event, sponsored by Atlanta Partners for Education, includes activities such as helping students complete college applications, teaching them to create their own formula for a carbonated drink and providing information about potential careers.

The activities will take place in all of the city’s public schools, with volunteers from IBM, Gas South, The Zeist Foundation, United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta and others.
