Teachers typically send electronic messages to students outlining homework assignments or reminding them of upcoming tests, but one in Morgan County apparently found a different use for cellphone technology.

The teacher and swim coach at Morgan County High reportedly had an interest in “buck naked” drinking and sent a student messages about it.

"I don't get down like that," the student replied, according to an online report Wednesday by the Morgan County Citizen. The student, 18, went to Madison police, initiating an investigation that led to the teacher's resignation.

The Citizen cited a police report that indicated messages traveled via Instagram, with the teacher asking the student to add him on SnapChat, a service that allows the exchange of ephemeral videos.

The teacher reportedly backpedaled after the student pushed back on his phone message. “Didn’t mean us together,” the Citizen quoted the teacher writing. “I ain’t down with dudes. Just like to drank with cool folk like you.”
