The DeKalb County school board chairman was interviewed Thursday by three investigators from a regional school accrediting agency.

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools sent a half dozen people this week to investigate dozens of complaints alleging that the school board meddled in administrative decisions, such as hiring, while failing to oversee finances, its primary responsibility.

Walker said it was a “cordial” and “professional” meeting at school system headquarters and that the SACS team focused on “processes.” They plan to interview all board members and several other officials. “They didn’t ask me about anybody who was hired,” Walker said. “I think they’re going to be fair and balanced.”
