Gwinnett County school officials have scheduled a public hearing Thursday evening to hear from parents, residents and even students about its near $2 billion proposed budget for the coming school year.

The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the school district’s headquarters, 437 Old Peachtree Rd., Suwanee.

The budget proposal does not include a property tax rate increase. Many homeowners may pay more in property taxes because county government officials have increased the value of their property.

Gwinnett's proposed budget includes raises for nearly all employees and additional funds for school bus repairs and property maintenance.

The school board is scheduled to vote on its budget at a May 19 meeting.
