Georgia colleges and universities delayed and cancelled classes Monday morning as freezing rain was set to move into North Georgia and metro Atlanta.

Early morning classes were cancelled at Brenau University's Gainesville and Norcross campuses. Later classes will begin at 11 a.m., and faculty should report at 10 a.m.

North Georgia Technical College’s Clarkesvile and Currahee campuses are closed Monday. The Blairsville campus remains open.

Classes at Young Harris College in northeast Georgia were delayed until 11 a.m.

The National Weather Service issued a freezing rain advisory for several metro Atlanta and North Georgia counties until 7 p.m., Channel 2 Action News meteorologists reported.
