Mercer, Morehouse receive national humanities grants

Dec 9, 2014Mercer University and Morehouse College were selected this week as Georgia recipients of grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
NEH will award $17.9 million in grants for 233 humanities projects across the country.
Mercer’s $500,000 grant will go towards the creation of an endowment for a center for southern studies. Morehouse plans to use its grant of almost $100,000 towards incorporating documents from its Martin Luther King Jr. Collection into humanities teaching.
During the current NEH award cycle, institutions and independent scholars in 42 states and the District of Columbia, will receive grants.
