Gwinnett County school officials have announced its six finalists for what may be the school district’s most coveted prize: Teacher of the Year.

The finalists are:

  • Trisha Connor, who teaches science, technology, engineering and math courses at Harbins Elementary School.
  • Janelle Draper, a fourth-grade teacher at White Oak Elementary School.
  • Emily Heend, who teaches math at Phoenix High School.
  • Alix McHardy, a science teacher at Norcross High School.
  • Jennifer Sevier, a science teacher at Dacula Middle School.
  • Felisha Strong, a Reading Connections teacher at Richards Middle School.

A selection committee of past winners, administrators and staff chose the finalists and will decide who will be named Teacher of the Year. The winner will be announced at a banquet on Nov. 10 and represent Gwinnett in the statewide competition.
