Gov. Nathan Deal announced Wednesday three new members to Georgia’s Board of Regents, including a former adviser.
The new appointments are:
- Erin Hames, who helped design Deal's Opportunity School District, a proposal that would given the state the authority to take schools deemed to be "chronically failing" from the control of local school boards. Voters rejected the proposal last year. Hames is currently president of ReformEd, a firm focused on improving educational opportunities.
- Barbara Rivera Holmes, president and chief executive officer of the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce. She's a board member of Commodore Conyers College.
- W. Allen Gudenrath, a senior vice president of Morgan Stanley's wealth management division. He's a member of Reinhardt University's Alumni Board of Governors.
Deal reappointed C. Thomas Hopkins and Don L. Waters.
