When it comes to social media, Georgia Tech is a top performer.

A national survey of colleges and universities ranks the Atlanta institution among its top 50 performers on Twitter and Facebook. The Atlanta institution was the only Georgia school listed in the eValue data compiled by technology and data company Engagement Labs.

Georgia Tech ranked third for Twitter performance, behind the universities of Wisconsin-Madison and Florida; and ranked 15th for Facebook performance. Texas A&M University was the highest Facebook performer.

A study from Dartmouth University reports that 100 percent of universities in the country are using some form of social media to communicate and interact with students, parents and alumni.

Like most colleges, Georgia Tech has a number of Twitter and Facebook accounts associated with the school. Its main Twitter account, @GeorgiaTech, has almost 47,000 followers. More than 96,000 people have liked the university’s main Facebook account, and 155,000 people have visited the page.
