The Forsyth County Board of Education intends to keep the current millage rate the same, at 16.30, rather than rolling back the rate to account for increasing property values.

This means that homeowners whose property values have increased will notice an increase in taxes this year, but homeowners whose property values have stayed the same will not see an increase.

The board of education will hold three public meetings before setting the final millage rate at the Forsyth County Board of Education and Professional Development Center, 1120 Dahlonega Highway, in Cumming.

Forsyth County residents may attend and express their opinions at 9 a.m. or 6 p.m. July 10, or 5 p.m. July 17. The board of education intends to adopt the millage rate at 6 p.m. July 17.
