Ten Lakeside High School students were told after participating in graduation exercises in the spring that they weren’t done with school, having failed Georgia Milestones end-of-course testing.
What’s happened since is a mystery.
District officials won’t say whether the students found other ways to graduate after learning they failed to complete all graduation requirements.
DeKalb County School District officials said in May the students were incorrectly given pencil-and-paper tests, delaying results until after the school’s May 21 graduation ceremony. When scoring was completed after the ceremony, it was discovered 10 students did not complete requirements to graduate.
District officials said five of the students opted to take courses through Georgia Virtual or the District Learning academies.
One Lakeside High School student graduated after completing summer school, officials said. They won’t say, though, whether that graduate is one of the 10 erroneously allowed to graduate in the spring.
