Donald Smith, DeKalb County School District's public safety director currently under investigation for sexual harassment claims, has resigned, sources said Wednesday.

According to people close to the situation who would not go on the record for fear of retaliation, Smith submitted his letter of resignation Monday.

District officials did not respond to emails Wednesday about Smith’s employment status, or whether he had submitted a letter of resignation.

The district confirmed last week it was investigating claims of sexual harassment made against Smith. Wednesday afternoon, he was still listed as an employee on the district's public safety page.
