Football players who were fraudulently enrolled at Grady High School will have to leave the school, and parents who falsified documents will have to pay up to $10,000 to reimburse Atlanta Public Schools for tuition costs, said Superintendent Erroll Davis in a statement Friday.
Davis said the investigation of football recruiting has already found "conclusive evidence" of address fraud. The investigation into about 20 students on the Midtown school's football team is still ongoing.
“Integrity is paramount, and we want to send a message that false affidavits have academic, personnel, financial and legal consequences that are simply not worth it,” Davis said.
When Davis announced the investigation Dec. 9, he said head football coach Ronnie Millen Sr. had been transferred.
Atlanta Public Schools launched the investigation after receiving an anonymous written complaint about fraudulent addresses on Nov. 7.
The Grady High football team finished this season with an 8-3 record after losing in the first round of the playoffs.
