This year's winner of the Rotary Club of Alpharetta's $1,000 scholarship is Dhakshi Balakumar, who graduated from Alpharetta High School with a GPA of 99.56 on a scale of 100. Each year, the Rotary Club of Alpharetta recognizes a high school senior who is an excellent scholar and exhibits outstanding qualities in academics, leadership and service. Dhakshi was ranked 37th in her class of 527 students, and plans to attend the University of California-Berkeley this fall. She has demonstrated leadership by, among other activities, being the business manager at Alpharetta High School's Creative Arts magazine and participating in Future Business Leaders of America and the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair and the Model United Nations. Dhakshi also won dozens of academic and achievement awards.
