Emory University, Georgia Perimeter College, Georgia Tech, Georgia State University, Spelman and Morehouse Colleges, Oglethorpe University and Gwinnett Technical College announced plans to reopen campuses on Friday.

Kennesaw State University and Southern Polytechnic State University were to remain closed on Friday due to driving conditions and the roads around the campuses.

Many of the the state’s colleges and universities have been closed for two days following Tuesday’s snow storm. Most institutions closed Tuesday afternoon.

“We were following the weather reports and consulting with other colleges in the area and decided to close at 1 p.m. like some of the other (colleges) in the metro area,” Georgia Perimeter’s interim President Rob Watts said this week. “It looks like most colleges decided that (Tuesday) morning was going to be good. What you try to do is not lose instructional time while also ensuring safety.”

While colleges were planning to reopen, most public school systems in the metro area were remaining closed on Friday.
