Search firms who want to assist the Atlanta school board with its superintendent search need to provide information about their services by Oct. 25.
The board announced last month that a majority did not support extending the contract of Superintendent Meria Carstarphen and that the board would look for a new chief.
Now, the board is seeking a consultant to help with the hunt. The board posted a "request for information" on Friday, asking search firms to submit their credentials and cost for services by Oct. 25.

The firm the board selects will be expected to recruit candidates, place job ads, prepare a job application, help the board identify candidates to be interviewed, conduct background checks, and arrange interviews.
The firm could also advise the board on an “appropriate compensation package” and help negotiate a contract with the new superintendent.
The board previously announced it will hold a series of community meetings aimed at getting residents' feedback on what traits and skills they want in the district's next leader. There's also a new section on the board's website to provide updates about the superintendent search.
The school board has said it wants to have a new superintendent on the job by July 1.
