Roads in Gwinnett County are slushy and icy but relatively free of cars. Even major roads like Buford Highway are largely empty. Most businesses are closed with the exception of gas stations and Waffle Houses. Parking lots and less traveled roads are sheeted with ice with pools of water trapped beneath.

Joe Kugler of Duluth ventured out briefly on foot. “I think only the guys with the good cars can get around today,” he said.

Ronald Reagan Parkway closed early this morning due to icy conditions and now Joy Lane near Camp Creek Road is also closed. The city of Lilburn is advising drivers to “exercise extreme caution” on Indian Trail Road between Burns Road and Hwy. 29 and on Hillcrest Road between Hwy. 29 and Indian Trail Road.
