Investigators have identified a man accused of stealing a gun used in a shooting last month at a Duluth-area sports bar.

The shooting took place Sept. 16 at the Sportstime Bar and Grille on Satellite Boulevard.

Bar patrons managed to subdue the shooting suspect and wrestle the silver revolver away before calling police, authorities said. The gun was placed on top of the bar and sat unattended when another man, later identified as 30-year-old Kyishon Alexander, placed the revolver in his pocket and left in a compact SUV, according to Gwinnett County police.

“The gun is considered evidence and was used during an aggravated assault,” police said in a news release that included a surveillance photo of the man accused of taking the weapon. “Detectives want to recover the gun and secure it as evidence.”

In the weeks that followed, investigators received several tips identifying Alexander as the customer who stole the revolver, Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Ryan Winderweedle said.

Alexander is wanted on charges of theft by taking and tampering with evidence, according to police, who encouraged the man to turn himself in and hand over the gun.

Anyone with information on Alexander’s whereabouts is asked to call Gwinnett police. Tipsters can remain anonymous, and be eligible for a cash reward, by contacting Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477, texting information to 274637 or visiting the Crime Stoppers website.
