Gwinnett County police need help finding a man accused of stealing a gun that was used in a shooting at a sports bar near Duluth.

Authorities on Thursday released surveillance footage that shows the man outside the Sportstime Bar and Grille on the night of the shooting. They hope someone recognizes him and contacts them with information about his identity.

“The gun is considered evidence and was used during an aggravated assault,” Gwinnett police said in a statement. “Detectives want to recover the gun and secure it as evidence.”

According to the preliminary investigation, gunfire erupted inside the bar on Satellite Boulevard on Sept. 16.

“After the incident, patrons within the bar subdued the suspect and placed his silver revolver on the bar top,” police said. “While the revolver sat unattended, an unknown black male wearing a white shirt grabbed the gun and placed it into his pocket before leaving the bar. He exited the parking lot onto Pleasant Hill Road in a small, gray SUV.”

Anyone with information about the man’s whereabouts is asked to call Gwinnett police. Tipsters can remain anonymous, and be eligible for rewards of up to $2,000, by contacting Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-8477, texting information to 274637 or visiting the Crime Stoppers website.
