The flash flood warning posted for parts of metro Atlanta early Monday after nearly a half-foot of overnight rain has been lifted.

The flash flood warning for central Fulton and western DeKalb counties was lifted shortly before 8 a.m.

The National Weather Service said just after 5 a.m. that radar estimates indicated that between 4.5 and 5.5 inches of rain fell in those areas.

Other overnight rainfall totals included 1.81 inches in Marietta and 1.31 inches in Alpharetta.

The bulk of the rain had tapered off by daybreak, but more rain and thunderstorms are possible Monday afternoon.

Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton said that after a 30 percent chance of rain Monday afternoon, the rain chance drops to 20 percent Tuesday and Wednesday before climbing back to 30 to 40 percent Thursday and Friday.

Highs this week will be in the mid- to upper 80s, with lows in the upper 60s to low 70s.

A slight chance of rain and cooler temperatures are forecast for Saturday and Sunday, when highs should top out in the low 80s.
